Vendors and 77 modelers in 29 categories gathered at Elk’s Hall in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on October 6, 2024, for the 30th Annual Classic Plastic Model Club exhibition and contest. Over 370 models showed up on the tables.
Steve Robillard kitbashed a Mack DM 800 dump truck using an Ertl 1/25 scale kit and painted it with Rust-Oleum Forest Green, Rock Red, and Haze Gray. He wired and plumbed the machine, weathered it, and added a removable dirt load.
An Airfix 1/32 scale TFL Routemaster bus built into Bryan Ahl’s 2012 Wrightbus Routemaster. He used Tamiya Weathering Compounds to give it a used look.
Steve Norsek built his Revell 1/25 scale Bill Stroppe Baja Bronco with a grille, push bar, lights, and spare tire, and Fireball Modelworks lift, wheels, and tires. The finish is Tamiya Pearl Green with Revell Chrome on the wheels.
Jason Hanscom said that his MPC 1/25 scale Rat Trap Vega is “built as a Wood Bros. ‘what if.’” He added engine details, a 3D-printed carb and spacer, a 3D-printed battery, and a shifter to make it a Vega modified stock car.
Ruane Crummet added aftermarket wheels to his Moebius Models 1/25 scale 1965 Ford Custom Cab Styleside pickup. The truck, painted Tamiya Light Green and Champagne Gold, has VCG Resin lawn equipment, scratchbuilt ash racks and ramps, Meng bolt heads and nuts, and is topped with six coats of clear polyurethane.
Dana Benoit’s cool red kitbash is made from a Revell 1/24 scale 2010 Camaro SS Special Edition with a 2014 Corvette engine and 1959 Corvette front end and door panels. The car is painted with Model Master Dark Red Metallic.
This Atlantis 1/25 scale 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham drove in with Jodi Doyle, who re-scribed the panels to make it a two-door. The lowered stance, Bare-Metal Foil, and navy blue and pewter acrylic finish make it stand out.
Tim Rhine built his Monogram 1/24 scale 1958 T-bird box stock. He painted it with MCW for the beautiful, dark green finish.
Andy Behrens built a Revell 1/25 scale Foose Custom Cadillac Eldorado with Modelhaus wheels chromed using Alclad II lacquer. He also added Modelhaus tires, Scale Motorsport upholstery decals, and machined-aluminum dash knobs. The finish is Dupli-Color Blue under Dupli-Color Clear.
