Rick calls his diorama "Hell's Gate." "It [depicts] the desperate German retreat from the Kersun/Cherkassy pocket. The weather was snow, followed by melting, and then more snow." He used figures from Dragon, Tristar, Stalingrad, Panzer Art, and Alpine, a Drgon Panzer IV, and a horse-drawn cart from MiniArt. Rick painted the tank with acrylics and used the hairspray technique for the whitewash. He used the same technique for the weathered wood for the buildings. Rick left no figure unmodified, swapping heads and hands, reshaping them to ridge the tank, and adding items for them to carry.
