Mark Linkiewicz
Claremont, New Hampshire
Mark built Monogram’s 1/24 scale 1950 Ford pickup out of the box, except he turned the front wheels by cutting the axles and rejoining them at a different angle. “The paint scheme is strictly fantasy,” he says. “I have no idea if Gulf service stations painted their trucks like this, but it seemed plausible.” The seat in the cab is covered with a Mexican blanket, which is actually a printed image Mark found online. Mark sealed the ink with clear lacquer and then soaked the paper in diluted white glue to soften it. The chrome parts were given a coat of flat clear lacquer to give them a dull, aged look. He weathered with artist oils.
